Background of the Study
Artisanal gold mining is an important economic activity in Gusau LGA, Zamfara State, contributing to the livelihoods of many individuals and families. Artisanal mining cooperatives are typically organized groups of miners who pool resources, share risks, and work collaboratively. However, financial accountability in these cooperatives is often a challenge due to informal financial practices, lack of proper record-keeping, and inadequate financial management systems.
